WHAT TO PACK & BRING TO MEXICO

We want you to be as best prepared for your trip as possible, the below tips will provide you with what you need to pack and bring to have a great vacation experience.

Prepare Your Documents for Travel:
- A passport is required for ALL travelers for international travel. Make sure all those traveling with you have a valid passport and a copy of their booking documents and itinerary. Your passport should be valid for the entire duration of your stay. Research entry/exit requirements, visas, laws, customs, medical care, road safety, etc. in the countries you will be visiting at travel.state.gov/destination.
- Make two photocopies of all your credit cards and your driver’s license and passport. (Keep a copy of these docs at home. Take a copy with you and carry separate from the originals.)
- Print all your booking documents and itinerary and organize them for the trip.
- If you have obtained travel insurance, print a copy of the policy and contact information in case you need to use it while traveling, including important contact numbers should you come across an emergency situation.
- Print out the information from your country on what to do if your passport is lost or stolen: US State Department (Lost and Stolen U.S. Passports Abroad)
- Check with the Transportation Authority to read the regulations for carry on items. www.tsa.gov Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
- Minor Children NOT traveling with BOTH Birth Parents: In addition to a Child's Passport and Citizenship Documentation, a Minor Child under the age of 18 must have a legal Guardian, or parental consent form from their birth parents to exit the United States and enter most foreign countries.

Medical:
- See your doctor for any special instructions for any vaccinations needed for your destination.
- Get your prescriptions refilled. Be sure to keep them in their original marked containers.
- Be prepared for any stomach issues (laxatives, antacids, Imodium etc.) Check with your doctor for specific medications.
- Make copies of your insurance card.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE PACK THIS!!!
Please make sure NOT to bring any weapons, ammunition, or cannabis products of any kind (including CBD) in your suitcase, carry-on luggage or on your person. If you are a smoker, I would suggest only bringing 1 or 2 packs of cigarettes max -- they frown upon too many boxes of cigarettes and will assume you are trying to sell them. As a result, you will be heavily taxed hundreds of dollars at customs if you bring too much.

Please check ALL bags and ensure NONE of the above items are in your carry-on or check-in bags. If you are caught with these items you will likely be arrested, thrown into jail and required to go before a judge to be sentenced. Even if these items are in your bags on accident, it does not matter. You will serve jail time and you will be excessively fined for this.

BRING LOTS OF DOLLARS FOR TIPS
While tips are technically included with your stay, the service staff at the hotel relies heavily on tips as a majority of their income. On average, hotel service workers in Mexico make between $5 to $8 per day, so guests tips are crucial to their livelihood. If you receive excellent care and service from a staff member, a few dollars goes a long way. Staff members who receive tips typically include: housekeeping staff, the members who restock your snacks and drinks in the rooms, bellmen, restaurant servers, poolside servers, bartenders, taxi or shuttle drivers, room service delivery persons, tour guides, etc. When traveling to Mexico, I usually bring $150-$300 in a mix of $1 and $5 bills. The people of Mexico always take great care of their guests, but I've always noticed that tipping brings it to a whole new level of premium service.

PACK WATER SHOES & FLIP FLOPS
This is the best way to traverse around all the parks and excursions. I have bought more than a dozen of watershoes over the years because I travel at least 6-10 times a year. These are by far the best watershoes I've ever gotten and it's a quick purchase on Amazon.com: Click here for women's. Click here for men's.

Flip flops are also great for quick trips to the beach and pool areas or a visit to the resort's spa.

PACK YOUR SWIMSUITS
You'll likely spend at least 50-75% of the day in the pool, cenote, lagoon or ocean so make sure you have your swimsuits and swim trunks ready! Babies will need to wear in a swim diaper in the water, so make sure to bring those too for any little ones.

BRING LOTS OF SUNSCREEN, A HAT AND SUNGLASSES
The sun is unforgiving in Mexico, even on cloudy days, so make sure to wear the proper amount of sunblock whenever you're outside be it in the water or on an excursion. Some of the parks require biodegradable sunscreen to protect the marine life and reefs, so please do your research on that. This special type of sunscreen is also available for purchase at the hotel or parks (though at a premium price).

Hats and sunglasses are also great for protecting your face and eyes. Just make sure NOT to wear your hats or sunglasses on any active excursions like ziplines or waterslides as they can easily be lost and difficult to find.

BRING INSECT REPELLENT
Like all tropical and humid areas, especially after rainy days, the mosquitoes can be relentless. The  hotel does spray in the foliage areas overnight so keep the mosquitoes at bay, but please keep yourself coated with repellent whenever outdoors especially during dusk and dawn when the mosquitoes are most active. I suggest always wearing repellent whenever you're outside -- no matter the time of day -- to avoid getting bitten. I personally like this brand:
- Avon Skin So Soft Insect Repllent - Click here to purchase

If you are prone to mosquito bites, then I suggest also bringing anti-itch medicine or tools like one of the following:
- Bug Bite Thing Suction Tool (this legit works but is best used right after you are bitten) -  Click here purchase
- Benadryl itch gel - Click here to purchase
- Mopiko Ointment Salap - Click here to purchase

BRING PAIN MEDICATION AND STOMACH MEDS
It's very easy to overeat and overdrink at an all-inclusive resort, especially if it's your first experience at this type of property. Bringing Tylenol or Advil along with stomach medications like antacids, Pepto Bismal or Tums, can save you from a world of hurt if you've over done it! Keep in mind, these types of things can always be purchased at the hotel store, but they will be for a premium price.

YOUR WEDDING DAY OUTFIT
Please dress formally for the wedding. Think beachy, but elegant and keep in mind it will e warm.

APPROPRIATE ATTIRE FOR EVERY DAY WEAR AND DINING
Playa del Carmen, Mexico is typically hot and humid during the summer months -- temperatures are usually in the high 80s to 90s. We recommend bringing light summer clothing.

Please note that some restaurants will require approrpriate attire, especially for dinner. Click here for more info on dress codes for the different restaurants and dining experiences.
